Genomics India Conference
India's Largest Genomics Conference Returns for Its Sixth Edition — GIC 2026 Registrations Now Open
Jointly Organized by Genotypic Technology, University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Tata Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS)
The Genomics India Conference (GIC) returns for its 6th edition, bringing together global leaders, researchers, innovators and industry experts to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of genomics and its transition into real-world applications. GIC 2026, centered around the theme “Genome to Bioeconomy: Innovation, Impact and Economic Transformation” will spotlight how genomics is driving breakthroughs across healthcare, agriculture, industrial biotechnology and sustainable development.
Scheduled for September 2–3, 2026, with pre-conference workshops on September 1, 2026, the conference will be held at the Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, GKVK Campus, Bengaluru —a venue set to witness the convergence of science, innovation, and the future of biology.
A Conference Theme That Reflects India’s Moment
Centered around the theme “Genome to Bioeconomy: Innovation, Impact and Economic Transformation,” GIC 2026 reflects the accelerating movement of genomic science from the laboratory into real-world application. From healthcare and diagnostics to agriculture, industrial biotechnology, and public health infrastructure, genomics is increasingly shaping India’s bioeconomy. GIC 2026 is designed to serve as the national platform where this transition is examined, debated, and accelerated by the very community driving it.
Scientific Programme: Breadth and Depth
The three-day conference will feature an extensive scientific programme comprising 20+ speakers and 10+ sessions spanning four focus areas: Agri-Genomics, AI/ML, Health Tech, and Genome Biology.
In addition to keynote addresses and technical sessions, GIC 2026 will feature fireside chats with industry leaders, live demonstrations of cutting-edge Next Generation Sequencing technologies from 20+ exhibitors.
Pre-Conference Workshops: Institution-Led, Hands-On Learning
Preceding the main conference on September 1, five full-day hands-on workshops will be conducted across India’s most respected research institutions, offering participants practical, skills-first training in the most consequential areas of contemporary genomics practice:
| Workshop | Host Institution |
|---|---|
| AI-Driven NGS Data Analysis | Genotypic Technology |
| Metagenomics for Clinical & Environmental Applications | Tata Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS) |
| AI-Driven Multiomics | Indian Institute of Science (IISc) |
| Phenomics in Modern Agriculture | University of Agricultural Sciences |
| Statistical Genomics | National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) |
